Haidong Gumdo, The way of the sword, is an ancient and noble martial art from Korea. Its purpose is to execute justice with the light of the sword, that is as majestic and brilliant as the morning sunlight on the east sea.

 

Students of all ages and physical abilities can practice this Korean Sword Art.

What makes Haidong Gumdo different from other programs?

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A SWORD CLASS:

A warm up segment comprised of light movements and stretching.

Next is basics where you will cut through the air in simulated strikes, learning how to perform sword forms and one-step combinations, as well as methods in which to draw the sword. Great for toning and strengthening.

Constant swinging will increase cardiovascular fitness and burn calories.

During classes we will also practice sword self defense techniques, paper cutting and candle extinguishing.

Overall, a student will develop balance, coordination, focus and concentration, while relieving your daily stresses.

Then the muscle toning segment, where we will try different floor exercises such as sit-ups, crunches, leg lifts and push-ups.

And finally a cool down to allow the body to return gradually to normal. Students leave feeling relaxed, refreshed and revitalized!
